Ovaj je članak prvi puta objavljen u Senjskom zborniku: https://doi.org/10.31953/sz.48.1.1. Radi se o posljednjem članku prvog gospićko-senjskog biskupa mons. dr. sc. Mile Bogovića (1939.- 2020.), crkvenog povjesničara. Novi predgovor ovomu članku piše prof. dr. sc. Ante Bežen, dugogodišnji prijatelj i suradnik biskupa Bogovića. U njemu razjašnjava sve okolnosti i probleme koji su prethodili objavljivanju ovoga članka u Senjskome zborniku. Zbog iznimne važnosti istraživanja, koje iz vizure crkvene povijesti propituje ustaljenu, ali povijesno problematičnu tezu o Ćirilu i Metodu kao tvorcima glagoljice, uredništvo časopisa Ban Dvor odlučilo je ponovno objaviti ovaj članak. Na taj način želimo pojačati njegovu vidljivost te potaknuti druge autore na znanstvena propitivanja i istraživanja izvan ustaljenih okvira. Pritom navodimo zaključak iz ovoga rada biskupa Bogovića: "Povijesni kontekst nastanka glagoljice i ćirilice nije tako proučen i jasan da bi se pitanje nastanka glagoljice i ćirilice moglo skinuti s dnevnog reda. Povjesničari trebaju pratiti dosege filološke znanosti, ali i filolozi trebaju smjestiti svoja istraživanja u povijesni kontekst."

Abstract
This article was first published in Senjski zbornik: https://doi.org/10.31953/sz.48.1.1. It is the final article by Monsignor Mile Bogović, PhD (1939–2020), the first bishop of the Gospić-Senj Diocese and a church historian. A new foreword to this article is written by Professor Ante Bežen, PhD, a long-standing friend and collaborator of Bishop Bogović. In it, he clarifies all the circumstances and issues that preceded the publication of this article in Senjski zbornik. Owing to the exceptional importance of this research, which, from the perspective of church history, questions the established but historically problematic thesis that Cyril and Methodius were the creators of the Glagolitic script, the editorial board of the Ban Dvor journal has decided to republish this article. In this way, we wish to increase its visibility and encourage other authors to engage in scholarly questioning and research beyond established frameworks. In this regard, we cite the conclusion from Bishop Bogović’s work: “The historical context of the emergence of the Glagolitic and Cyrillic scripts has not been studied and clarified to such an extent that the question of their origin could be taken off the agenda. Historians should follow the advances of philological scholarship, but philologists should also place their research within its historical context.”
